Goldoni a komédia nagymestere volt, közel 150 muvet írt, és a mai napig a legtöbbet játszott színpadi szerzok között jegyzik szerte a világon.
Darabjaihoz minden aktuális velencei, vagy környékbeli pletykát felhasznált témáinak kidolgozásakor. A címben szereplo Chioggia, Velence egyik vízi elovárosa is személyes ismerose volt: maga is töltött ott egy kis idot bíróként. Sokat tudott az egyszeru emberek hétköznapjairól, ügyes-bajos dolgairól, az önállóságra és megértésre vágyó nokrol, a féltékeny, lobbanékony férfiakról, megfuszerezve mindezt vérbo helyzetkomikummal, helyenként már abszurdba hajló humorral.
Apróságokból óriási veszekedések, félreértésekbol majdnem tragédiák...Érkezik azonban egy bölcs ember, aki megpróbál rendet csinálni a felbolydult kikötoben.

Set to a libretto by Barnabás Szöllősi that is based on Andor Szilágyi's fable for the theatre and written at the OPERA's request in the 2014/15 season, Erkel Prize-winning composer Zsófia Tallér's masterful, expressive and entertaining music makes this Hungarian fairy tale opera an enjoyable experience for children and adults alike, and, we hope, a possible future classic.
