Adott egy korosodó primadonna, Mária, s egy évek óta nem látott, de most újra felbukkanó régi szerelem. Egy báró. Aki magával hozza fiát, Miklóst. Hazaérkezik a színésznő lánya, Zsuzsi, aki anyja nyomdokaiba szeretne lépni. Szerelmes a szerelembe. Az anyja félti a csalódásoktól, a báróban fellángolnak a régi érzések, és Miklós szíve is nagyot dobban, amikor megismerkedik a titokzatos, kalapok mögé bújt leánnyal. Ebből alakul egy közel két órás, fergeteges előadás. Közben pedig olyan szenzációs slágerek csendülnek fel, mint a Legyen a Horváth kertben Budán! és a Hol van az nyár?
