„Ibsen A vadkacsában felteszi a kérdést, szükség van-e megtisztító igazságra ahhoz, hogy élni tudjunk. Érvényesítsük-e a nyílt beszéd kíméletlenségét, ha mindennapjainkat szándékosan rendeztük be az öncsalás és az önámítás kényelmes kellékeivel” – írja Koltai Tamás.
Az Ekdal család szűkösen, de boldogan éli mindennapjait. Megérkezik a család rég nem látott jó barátja, az egykori üzlettárs, és a harmóniának hamarosan nyoma sem marad. Az ifjúkori ballépést már nem lehet meg nem történtté tenni. Fény derül a múltra.
Ibsen egyik legszebb, legmegrendítőbb és legszemélyesebb történetét Marton László állítja színpadra, aki külföldön, angol nyelven már nagy sikerrel megrendezte A vadkacsát, és megkapta érte az Irish Times legjobb rendezőnek járó díját.

Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
