André mostanában mintha kissé feledékeny lenne, valahogy nem állnak össze a dolgok a fejében. A lakása, a lánya, a bútorok... minden és mindenki egyre idegenebbnek tűnik. Anne, a lánya igyekszik gondoskodni róla, de André nem fogad el semmilyen segítséget, mindenkit elmar maga mellől, és lassan teljesen elveszíti a kapcsolatát a valósággal.
A 2012-ben született darab mély empátiával és sok humorral mutatja meg egy idős férfi küzdelmét a felejtéssel és a szellemi hanyatlással. Florian Zeller műve Franciaországban elnyerte a legjobb színműnek járó Molière-díjat, és a világ számos országában sikerrel játszották. A 2020-ban készült filmváltozat forgatókönyvét és a főszereplő, Anthony Hopkins alakítását az amerikai filmakadémia Oscar-díjjal jutalmazta.
